Weekend giveaway: True Beauty

Today’s giveaway comes from sponsor True Beauty: Be Still, a film and reflection guide created by Lisa Chan. From True Beauty:

“Every woman knows the feeling. Regardless of her age, her income, or her family situation, women today are facing the challenges of a busy life and the stress that comes with it.

Obligations to children, husband, job, church, friends, committees, and the pressures of everyday life have created a spiritual crisis for women. Because in their efforts to be everything to everyone, women have forgotten the ONE who really should be their everything.

Lisa Chan believes that in our quest to do it all, women are missing God. In the first film of her new series, True Beauty: Finding Your Identity in Jesus, Chan focuses on what it means to Be Still. Be Still addresses the issues that confront women when they forget to spend time with Jesus — something that, like most women, Chan struggled with herself.

As a mother of five children, co-founder of Cornerstone Community Church in Simi Valley, California, and wife of best-selling author and pastor Francis Chan, Lisa knows firsthand what it means to be overwhelmed, overcommitted, and out of time.

It was an unplanned, extended time alone with God that fueled her desire to encourage every woman to see the beauty of coming before the Lord in stillness. She has seen firsthand that women in the church are suffering from depression, anxiety, and stress at alarming rates—and recognizes that women need to make the choice to find hope and healing and truth from God’s presence and through His Word.

With this film, Chan comes alongside women in their walk with the Lord to give them the tools they need to be the person God intends them to be.”

  1. Martha Mason says:

Be still indeed…thank you would love to win.

  2. This topic is really important. As women, we are under great pressure. I often think about how different life was for my grandmother and great-grandmother–much slower, very home- and family-focused, fewer distractions that pulled their energy and time away from what is truly important at the core. I’m glad to see this topic treated in a book.

  3. Meredith Davis says:

I need this one….. being still is unknown to me right now

  4. Wow. This sounds amazing! Can’t wait to check it out!

This looks like an awesome tool for every Christian woman in today’s harried lifestyle! I love the idea of being true to your identity in Christ…..took me a long time (into my thirties!) to realize I didn’t need to be like anyone else, I just need to be ME!

  11. Brittany West says:

Well, this would be quite amazing.

  12. This feels like an answer to prayer. I’ve been reflecting and praying a lot on what it means to “be still” as I’m battling an unexpected medical diagnosis and still trying to intentionally parent my two baby daughters. I am not a naturally “still” person! What a blessing this resource would be. Thank you for sharing it with us!

  13. Wow, I can identify with Lisa Chan, also being a mom of five, and with so much going on it feels like each day I’m sinking in quicksand… and I would pass this along to others who also need encouragement.

I would love to be able to send her this material – it sounds WONDERFUL! 87. Thank you for your insights and inspirations. And for introducing us all to valuable resources and to a larger community outside what we see first hand. In a world so fast paced some struggle to even keep up and encouragement to find the stillness within brings hope. Thanks again!

  88. I am learning this right now! To slow down and focus on Gods opinion of me and Gods priorities. 100. The Lord keeps reaffirming His Word of “Peace” to me. His promise in Exodus 14:14 says, “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest.” I just love that God is fighting FOR me, and all I have to do is receive His Peace and Rest.
