Hello there – it’s nice to meet you.
My name is Tsh Oxenreider, and no, my name is not a typo (one of the first things people ask). It’s pronounced “Tish.” No reason, really, except that my parents were experimental with their names choices in the 70s. Until my younger brother was born in the 80s, whom they named Josh, quite possibly one of the most common names for people his age. Who knows what they were thinking, really.
I like having music on in the house all day long, drinking black coffee, and wearing green (the color, not the concept… Although that’s pretty great, too). I dislike really hot or cold weather (give me spring and fall any day), sprouts, and wearing socks.
I’m married to Kyle, and I think he’s a great guy. We met in Kosovo, the former Yugoslavia, in 2000. I was working in a little village teaching English, and he was helping rebuild houses from the war. We’ve got a pretty sweet love story, actually. I probably should write about it. (I did a little, here.)
Together we have three kids — Tatum (we call her ‘Tate’), who’s 8, Reed, who’s 5, and Finn, who’s 3. It’s really, really loud and chaotic in our car, and most of our doorknobs are sticky. I love it. The days are long but the years are short.
We love traveling the world. A few years ago we just moved back from the Middle East, where Reed was born, and it always feels like we’re “in between” countries… Who knows, really. We’re currently in Bend, Oregon, but I’m originally from Austin, Texas. So far, Bend fits us well. It’s like Mayberry wearing a North Face jacket. That’s a compliment, by the way.
I have a Life List, and it’s fun to cross things off.
My passion is writing, so I feel enormously blessed to do so here on the blog. My first book, Organized Simplicity, hit bookstores October 25, 2010. Wild.
My e-book, One Bite at a Time: 52 Projects for Making Life Simpler, released in August 2011. It’s pretty good, too, if I say so. Read it and tell me what you think.
My third book will be released in early 2014 with Thomas Nelson, publishers. I can’t wait to share it with you.
I also have a podcast called (get this) The Simple Mom Podcast. I talk with my Internet friends about all kinds of stuff, and it’s so. much. fun. It’s like your weekly grown-up conversation amidst the Lego and diapers. You should listen! And subscribe in iTunes.
I love blogging. I love the ability to write, to work from home doing something I love, and getting to interact with people all day long. I can work from any country in the world. That’s pretty amazing.
Thank you for being a reader. I feel honored and humbled daily that you would stop by and read words written by little ol’ me. My heart is full, and my cup overflows.
• Want to contact me? Head here. I wish I had more time to write you back, but please know I read every single email that comes my way. If only my kids didn’t need to eat, then I’d have more time to reply.
