Mother’s Day Getaway giveaway!

This giveaway is now closed. Check here for the winner!

I‘m sure it won’t surprise you that I love to travel. I actually love to fly as well, especially if it’s sans toddlers — doesn’t happen often, so it’s a real treat. So I’ve got a fun surprise to celebrate Mother’s Day again. How would you like to get away… for free?

I’ve got two Southwest Airlines round-trip tickets to give away to a Simple Mom reader! You can use them for anywhere Southwest Airlines flies. Fun, eh? I’d use the tickets this fall to head to either or Boston or Providence so Kyle and I could drive to Martha’s Vineyard for our anniversary — it’s where we honeymooned.

Southwest Airlines is also throwing in some souvenirs (or in-flight entertainment) for the kiddos—a Southwest Flight Attendant Doll, an Airport Playset, and the LUV’ed onesie courtesy of Southwest Airlines.

Here are the contest rules.

  5. I LOVE how flying Southwest is so simple 😀 From buying a ticket (great website interface, reliable prices) to boarding and the flying experience, I can depend on the same procedures….there’s never any shocking extra prices or crazy seating arrangements!

SO hoping I win. I LOVE traveling and haven’t in forever!

  6. kristin z says:

I love that they fly so many places!

  7. I love that they’re so affordable. Now that we have to buy more tickets, it’s nice to know we can do so more cheaply but still get great service!

Southwest Airlines is the best airline out there! From booking tickets to the service in the air, it is the best! I would love to go out to Austin Tx. to see my niece, her husband and their brand new baby. What a treat.

  9. It has been awhile since I flew Southwest as I just recently moved back from living in South Africa, but I always remember the experience being pleasant.

There are so many options of where I would go….to my college alma mater in Tulsa, to the ski slopes and to visit friends in Colorado, or some other place “just for fun”…I am like you…I LOVE TO TRAVEL, so the possibilities are endless!

    Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

  17. Btw, I tweeted about this too 🙂

  18. What I love most about Southwest is the flight crew’s sense of humor. I am a very nervous passenger, but I still fly because I love traveling and visiting new places. I will never forget one time we had some bad, bad turbulence where the entire plane screamed as we fell through the sky. The flight attendant got on the speaker and said, “You’re welcome, for the turbulence. Yes, and we know you are classy passengers so, if there is anything you want to deposit in those little brown bags in front of you, please do so. And because you are classy passengers, we know you won’t put it back when you are depositing whatever it is you need to deposit.” Made me feel better about the journey.

  19. I love that they are no frills. Focusing on what’s important is … what’s important!

  20. Bags fly free!!!! And I would sooooooooo love to as well- I haven’t traveled by air for almost 4 years. That said, I would love to use the tickets to have a date weekend with my husband- perhaps Boston or Charleston or Savannah- all places we’ve talked about going “someday”.

I love the fact that Southwest doesn’t charge extra for baggage. I also love their easy-to-use website and refund policy.

  22. P.s. I would head to Boston as I only spent a day there once on my way to Vermont. It was a beautiful city but I didn’t have enough time to take a Duck tour and see more of the city. What I saw though, I loved.

  23. First of all, WOW! This is the mother of all blog-giveaways and I’ve got all my fingers and toes crossed in the hopes that I am the grateful winner! Second, Southwest Airlines flies just about anywhere for just about the most competitive price! … it has been a looooonnnngggg time since my husband and I had a little getaway for ourselves – so long, that I can’t even imagine what it would be like! Where would I go?? It’s getting warm and I need to relax… the BEACH!!

  54. I love flying with Southwest as a mom because I have a son with Autism and they allow us to preboard when we fly. It helps so much, esp. since southwest does not have assigned seating, it really prevents my son from getting overstimulated before boarding the flight, it is really a big deal for me 🙂

I would love to go back to Chicago, my husband and I met there at College 🙂

  55. Janey Backer says:

Their prices are good and service is friendly.

  59. I love that they (mostly) love their job! Everybody’s always so friendly! I’d go on a vacation with my sweetie to celebrate my long-awaited completion of my masters! 🙂

  60. I just love their cheap prices! It’s a lot more convenient to fly the 6 hours to see my parents instead of driving, and SW offers some truly great rates from time to time- round trip for under $100! That pretty much equals the price of gas for driving these days. 😛 I hope I win!

  61. I appreciate Southwest b/c my experience has been that they have gone out of their way to get my family to sit together…and that they have reasonable rates (most of the time). I’d fly to Albany, NY b/c we have a girls’ reunion every year and this time it’s in upstate NY.

  67. I tweeted, too!

  68. Oh where to start? I LOVE Southwest!! I studied their business model in college and love how they run their business. Their prices are always competitive. They only fly Boeing jets (I used to work for Boeing). They don’t charge bag fees. They get you on the plane and in the air quickly – a plus for this mom of small children. Their flight crews are always so nice and fun, not stuffy like other carriers. I could go on and on!

  70. Tiffany says:

I love that they don’t charge for luggage and they’re the most family friendly of all the airlines. If I win these tickets, I’ll use them to fly us to Hawaii, we’re celebrating our 12 yr anniversary, but free tickets would make it even more celebratory!!!

I’ve never flown them, but if I win I’ll post my favourite thing!

  75. The flight attendants always make me laugh– they take their job seriously but don’t act serious. Southwest has always been my favorite airline!!

  76. We almost exclusively fly Southwest. I love that bags fly free (which is super good when you’re flying with a free lap baby who almost needs more luggage than you do!) and I love that I can get rewards for flying and use them almost any time to fly almost anywhere! Just bought round trip ticket to my hometown for my childhood friend’s wedding. No way could I have afforded the trip without SWA!!

  77. Ang, never Angie says:

I like to fly Southwest; their attendants are fun! There are a couple of places I’d like to visit. If I win, I’ll have to prioritize! My husband and I could use a getaway.

  80. Definitely their friendly staff! I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a grumpy Southwest employee. Definitely can’t say that about their competitors.

  81. I tweeted!

  82. I love their “wanna get away” deals. We have used them many times and love that they don’t charge for bags and let you reschedule without charging an extra fee. They seem like the good guys in the air when everyone else is cutting corners and charging hidden fees!

  83. I haven’t been on a plane since I was teenager, and would love to fly anywhere. My husband and I have not had a real vacation since our honeymoon six years, this Saturday. We would fly anywhere just to be able to spend some time together and celebrate our marriage, so flying Southwest would be a dream.

  84. I love Southwest ’cause they’re the most affordable!

I would use the free tix to go see my newest twin cousins in Chicago!

  85. I just love how reliable they are. You can always count on Southwest! And I think I’d fly to Idaho to see my mom, who’s struggling with breast cancer.

  86. I haven’t flown since becoming a mom three years ago, but would love to see what flying is like with my 3-year-old. I’d take her to Orlando for her first Disneyworld visit. She’s a big princess fan these days. Pre-kids, I found flying Southwest to be a hassle-free experience. Thanks for the giveaway!

  87. Katie leonard says:

Honestly… I love their commercials. Really they are just so funny.
I would fly either to Texas to meet my nieces or to Buffalo,NY to see Aunts/Uncles I haven’t seen in years and to show my family where my dad grew up. (sometimes you need a little family “steeping” I guess.)

  88. I tweeted!

  89. I just love how reliable they are. You can always count on Southwest! I think I’d fly to Idaho to see my mom, who’s struggling with breast cancer.

  91. Amy B.C. says:

Southwest has excellent customer service and so easy to travel with. I particularly enjoy the lighthearted and friendly staff, the no assigned seating, and the no extra charges for luggage. My number one choice when I fly.

  92. I love the prices and that they don’t charge baggage fees, thats huge as a mom packing for the kids too!

  93. I love the friendly people at Southwest! I’d use the tickets to fly to see my brother in Tennessee or take my hubby on a getaway weekend to Colorado this fall.

  94. Tweeted about this! Thanks for the chance!

  95. I’ve actually never flown Southwest(they don’t fly to Alaska). But it would be great to have tickets to use when we do fly to the lower 48 so we can visit both sets of grandparents on one trip out of Alaska. (So we’d be flying to CA and FL).

  96. What’s not to love about Southwest. I love that they don’t charge for baggage and they have the friendliest employees of any airline. I would probably fly to visit my brother in California but living in Dallas it takes 3 flights to get there!

  97. Elinore says:

I love that they are so friendly! Thanks!

  98. Pamela O. says:

As a mom of 3, I appreciate not being nickled-and-dimed for everything under the sun. After paying for tickets for our whole family I LOVE the fact that I don’t have to pay for our bags too! If I won I would go visit my best friend in Georgia (I guess I’d have to fly to Greenville, SC) since I haven’t been able to visit her since she moved 2 years ago.

  99. aimee c. says:
