I‘m channeling my inner Oprah today to give one of you a few of my latest favorite things! I’m also channeling my inner cheeseball to tell you—yes you, dear reader—are my favorite gift. Seriously… I wouldn’t be here writing this without you. I am blessed because of you! (And thank you for all the birthday love.)
So it really makes me happy that I get to bless some of you with some of my favorite things right now. It’s a hodgepodge collection—things that have made me smile at the moment.
Ready for it? Here goes.
1. The Rhythm of Family by Amanda Soule
Amanda’s blog, SouleMama, was one of my earliest reads on the Internet, and it continues to be one of my favorite. She pulls back a corner of the curtain behind her farmhouse life in Maine, and both her words and pictures drip with nostalgia.
She’s written several books, and her latest is The Rhythm of Family—from her description:
“Following the course of a year through the passing of the seasons, this book explores the ways we can create deep family connections and meaningful memories through living in tune with the cycles of nature. From stomping around in mud boots in the spring to gathering around the woodstove in winter, our activities naturally change from season to season — from the rhythms of the seasons comes the rhythms in our homes, our hearts, our families, and our every day.”

2. Lisa Leonard Faith Collection
Lisa is one of my favorite people, and I love every chance I get to sit with her over a cup of coffee and chat business, family, and life. Her jewelry perfectly embodies the person she is—lovely, down to earth, practical, original, inspiring.
She just launched a fabulous new line of jewelry in partnership with Dayspring—here’s a short video describing her inspiration:

3. Skin care products from MadeOn
Renee is a mom of EIGHT who created this business out of her kitchen—a cottage industry if there ever was one. She originally made some homemade lotion to heal her own dry hands and her son’s eczema, and it worked so well, she took it to her local farmer’s market. It became a success!
I’ve told Renee that her Second Life Hair Butter is my favorite beauty product in the world. I travel a lot, and it’s pretty much the only one I bring—it serves as my hair restorer/secret-ingredient-of-amazingness, my lotion, and my facial moisturizer. Hair Butter is incredible, and it smells heavenly. Its only ingredients are shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax, and orange essential oil.
She’s also created Beesilk, her classic hard lotion—which basically means lotion shaped like a bar of soap. The hard lotion bar has three simple ingredients: shea butter, coconut oil and beeswax. Shea butter and coconut oil are known edible emollients. They soften and soothe dry skin and are gentle enough to rub over skin cuts and cracks. The beeswax emulsifies the other two ingredients to create a beautiful combination to smooth your skin.
4. What’s in the Bible? DVDs
You would think I was joking if I told you I learn as much as my kids from watching a cartoon series from the creator of Veggie Tales. You would be wrong. What’s in the Bible? is an INCREDIBLE series that walks through the entire Bible, from the beginning (so far, they’ve created videos through the Old Testament—more are in the works!).
I know not everyone who reads this blog is a Christian, and that’s okay. I think anyone would enjoy this series, if anything, to provide a fascinating glimpse of ancient history. Seriously—whenever the kids are watching it, Kyle and I will walk by the living room and end up watching with them.
Here’s a promo for their latest DVD, Volume 9: God Speaks:

5. Joy the Baker Cookbook
Joy is my blogging friend and podcast compadre (Have you listened to hers? It’s hilarious). A delight and so very sweet, Joy really lives up to her name. And she’s an incredibly talented baker, which means it’s a good thing she wrote the rest of us a cookbook—the Joy the Baker Cookbook, that is.
Her new cookbook embodies everything she is, and it’s fun just to pore over for sheer eye candy. My daughter loves that the spine is pink—that’s something, isn’t it?
Here’s a little video when she visited the famous French Laundry restaurant. How could you not love Joy?

6. Neato Robotics XV-21 vacuum
People. Oh, people—I have something to share with you. Neato Robotics contacted me and asked if I was up for trying out their latest vacuum, one of those robotic types that seems to have a mind of its own. I told them sure, but I couldn’t promise a review, since my editorial calendar was already full and I’m typically hesitant to recommend one more thing for your home.
But we pulled ours out of the box, charged the battery, and let ‘er run loose on our new house as we were still installing the floor. And after one run watching it know exactly where to go throughout our home, pulling up a serious truckload of dust (you should have seen the filter), I was sold. I knew I needed to tell you.
I love that this thing is a robot, and I’m not big on gadgets. It was so helpful keeping dust to a minimum when we moved in, and now, we program it to run through the downstairs almost every night while we sleep. It’s relatively quiet, so we don’t hear it upstairs at all.
Here’s a quick little video so you can see how it works:
It’s so great to wake up to a vacuumed floor. We’ve affectionately named ours Dobby.
