Make and Takes for Kids: 50 Crafts Throughout the Year (giveaway!)

This giveaway has now ended. Check back soon for the results!

I just love it when blogger friends launch books—it’s thrilling to walk with them through the book-writing process and watch their ideas morph to actual pages bound with glue.

Today I’m happy to announce the release of my friend Marie LeBaron‘s new book, Make and Takes for Kids: 50 Crafts Throughout the Year. And she wants to give two Simple Mom readers a copy!

What I love most about Marie’s craft ideas: they’re simple. I admire with astonishment the craft projects that obviously take time and talent—especially when they’re done with kids. But I’m a busy mom, so I just don’t have the time to create intricate activities for my clan.

But my kids still love to create. And I want to encourage them to create. So that’s what makes Marie’s blog and book so great: they’re full of crafts that require normal craft and household supplies, and they don’t require a degree in Marthaology.

They’re simple and fun.

And Marie’s new book is just like her blog—full of craft ideas for everyday families. In fact, all the crafts are organized month by month, coinciding with the seasons. You can make them any time of year, of course, but I appreciate the inspiration for celebrating different holidays.

Make and Takes: 50 Crafts Throughout the Year, published by Wiley, is now available! It’s a great holiday gift idea for teachers and busy parents, and it’s a great guide for carving out creative time with your brood.

Marie wants to give two Simple Mom readers a copy of her new book! To enter, simply leave any comment on this post. (If you’re reading this via email, you must click over to the post to comment.)

This giveaway will end tomorrow night, November 15, so don’t wait to enter! I’ll announce the winner this weekend.

I hope you win!

  74. I just want to take this opportunity to say I am so thankful to have come across your blog in my internet research….as it has been such a fantastic resource and provides some simple moments of pleasure to read your topics almost daily (and when not they are in an email file folder waiting:). One of the ‘many’ great things I remember about my Mom who stayed at home for me from 4-adulthood….was a great big craft book on our bookshelf. I could pull it out when I was old enough to understand pics and then read and we would spend so much quality time together….and I watched my Mom through the years take the time for her craft interests as well with patchwork, mucklucking&bead work, gardening, etc. What is most amazing is that this simple, pleasureful activity with your child….in my case, certainly lead me to be a better Mom for my childhood experience of tapping into creativity….but also that it allows me a grown-up outlet to create a calm, peaceful space in my day/week to have time away from ‘to-do’ things and spend some time in crafts that still bring me pleasure….lately that is small alteration projects for my daughters clothes and creating hand made musical instruments. Again, thank you for the virtual support and community that you have helped to create in my journey as a Mom.
