Giveaway: Organized Simplicity

by Nicole

Nicole lives near the beach in Southern California with her husband and three young kiddos. She writes a a lifestyle blog about creativity, family life, community, and all sorts of other fun stuff, and also keeps a homeschool journal called The Bennettar Academy. Her most recent (free!) ebook is about why and how to make more time for reading.

Today I want to share a wonderful new book with you, and give two of you the chance to win it!

It’s really exciting to be giving away this book as it was written by our very own Tsh Oxenreider, the founder and writer of Simple Mom, and the mastermind behind the whole Simple Living Media network. It’s always exciting to see a fellow blogger progress all the way to the culmination of book deal.

I was an early reader and fan of Simple Mom, myself. Hers was one of the first blogs I read as I was getting started, and as I continued reading, I watched her numbers grow exponentially. And for good reason. I met her two years ago at Blissdom and now am honored to work with and for her her here at Simple Organic.

Tsh’s new book, Organized Simplicity: The Clutter-Free Approach to Intentional Living,
is written in the same powerful way as her blog: simple (naturally), to the point, and professional, yet all the while coming across like a chat with a friend over coffee.

Organized Simplicity is not just another guide to organizing your stuff; it’s more of a life manual. And what I love most about her premise is the idea that simple living can indeed be practical in a modern world.

The book gives you the philosophy behind this kind of simple living that seeks to make room for what matters most in life, and then gives you the tools to get it done.

I know many of us around these parts are looking to do exactly what this book will help with: simplify, use less and get back to basics, leaving time, energy and money for a life lived intentionally and joyfully.

If you’re still looking for a last-minute Christmas gift, this book would be a beneficial addition to any home library. I’m going to start my new year by putting her ideas to work for my family. (It’s not too late to shop Amazon for Organized Simplicity before Christmas!)

  6. With absolutely no offense meant to him, my biggest organizing obstacle is my husband. :) But I like him anyway.

  7. My biggest challenge is organizing and taking care of the things of my nine year old. He’s too old for me to do all his organizing for him (as I do for his younger siblings), and at the same time, he is too young to be really well-organized himself. It’s a challenge letting him learn the lessons for himself.

  8. I subscribe in a feed reader.

  9. I already subscribe to Simple Organic through Google Reader. Love it!

  10. Deciding what needs to go, and having the energy to actually do something about it.

  33. The basement! It’s so easy dumping anything excess into the basement. Hopefully soon, we can tackle organizing and cleaning up, some decluttering as well.

  34. My biggest challenge is staying organized and simplified – it feels like once I get to a point where things are good, it’s short-lived because stuff starts building up again too quickly to handle!

  35. My bedroom-it becomes a catch-all for everything that doesn’t have a “home”.

  36. My biggest challenge in trying to organize my life is all the boxes of memorablia and papers I’ve saved over the years that I don’t know what to do with or whether or not I should even keep them.

  37. I’m subscribed!

  38. My biggest challenge is all of the toys!!!

  39. My biggest challenge is getting the stuff OUT of the house so that I can keep up with what is left! Would love to win this.

  40. my biggest challenge is organizing my TIME! i’m pretty good with “stuff”…but i never have enough time! (or need to say no to some things…)

  41. My biggest obstacle is time…there’s just not enough hours in the day to keep everything organized and tidy, it seems.

  42. Hmm…my biggest challenge right now is that I’m due in a few weeks, and just can’t seem to get everything done! Beyond that, it’s keeping a cleaning rhythm going in my home, and including the kids in keeping it up.

  43. My storage/laundry room area. So many bins of “old” kids clothes, change of season clothes, skis, baby stuff… It’s horrible. I need to get down to order this room!

  44. Time, I seem to let other things get in the way.

  45. My biggest challenge is my husband 😉 Well, him and a lack of storage space, lol!

  46. I subscribed through email.

  47. I subscribed – thanks for doing such a great giveaway!

  48. I think my biggest organizational challenge is storing items for my entire family. I really need to set a date for them to move it out.

  49. I subscribe with Goggle reader.

  50. Time. Definitely time and energy. With my few bits of time, why organize when I could sit down with a good book and cuppa tea?!

  51. My biggest challenge is my 3-month old baby combined with my full-time job!

  52. I am subscribed to SO (through Google Reader)!

  53. I think my biggest challenge is trying to get organized on a small budget. Sometimes I think if I could just spend to my heart’s content at the Container Store, I could have a file, box, or bin for everything. I know in my heart that’s not the answer, but it sure does seem easier than getting creative on my own!

  54. Already subscribe in Google Reader!

  55. My biggest challenge is probably making the time to go through and organize the things that we already have. There are so many other things I’d rather be doing with our time like cooking or playing with my son.

  56. Google Reader subber!

  57. My biggest organizational trouble is probably keeping up with the clothes/shoes as the kids outgrow them. We’ve got another on the way, so we still “need” them, and I’ve organized them in the past, so they’re _mostly_ sorted by age/gender, but right now they’re just in bags (some SpaceBags, but at the end of our time in our tiny condo, they ended up in grocery bags and whatever other bags we could find).

I just need to sit down and sort, but that requires time and space and right now I’m occupied with making curtains and getting Christmas up….

  58. I follow you with an RSS reader.

  59. My biggest challenge: Lack of closet space.

  60. My biggest challenge is how much stuff we have. I don’t even know how to begin decluttering it all. And I have a 4 year old, a 2 year old, and a baby on the way. They tend to be a bit of a challenge themselves!

  61. I already subscribe on Google Reader!

  62. My biggest challenge is having the energy to set up organizational systems that work for us. We have some stuff with no place to live that just gets shuffled from one pile to another.

  63. I subscribe via google reader.

  64. I’m a subscriber

  65. The kid’s have a different standard than me!

  66. I have two major obstacles: lack of time and my husband 😉 I’m hoping to spend the next 6 months getting things really organized before our first child comes!

  67. I subscribe via google reader

  68. My biggest organizational challenge is dealing with stuff right away before it piles up

  69. I already subscribe through google reader

  70. the thing that stands in my way of getting organized: motivation!

  71. i subscribe via google reader!

  72. Deciding what to keep and what to get rid of. We live in a small home and in order for it to be simple and organized we are constantly needing to get rid of things as we bring new things into our home.

  73. I already subscribe via RSS feed…love it!

  74. My greatest challenge in organization is following-through after a few weeks.

  75. My biggest problem is distractional organisation. I try to organize an area and find something that really should be in a different area. When I take whatever it is to wherever it should be I realise that this area too is in need of some help and start on it while I’m there. Before I know it I’ve got three or four half-completed ‘construction zones’ and I’ve used quite a bit more time than intended.

  76. I also subscribe in a feed reader.

  77. My biggest challenge to organizing has to be all the unexpected things that come through the door with my husband, children, and guests. They don’t seem to think about where to put things in quite the same way that I do.

Of course, all of those people are my biggest blessings too, so I can’t complain! Wouldn’t mind this book to help me think of good strategies to deal with it all, though!

  78. My biggest challenge is that we live in the country, so I can keep stuff out of sight, out of mind, in the barn or the 2 car garage with built in cabinets, so if I don’t see it, it can accumulate and get out of control. My dh loves it too, he has the barn, workshop and shed. We can fall into the “we might use it someday” pattern and there is so much FREE plywood, etc. on Craig’s List.

  79. My biggest challenge, besides too much clutter, is the time and energy to keep it up.

  80. I subscribed to the feed in google reader.

  81. My biggest challenge is just being orderly. I am always jumping from one thing to the next and leaving a trail behind.
    thanks for the giveaway!

  83. TOYS are absolutely my biggest organizational challenge!!

Thanks so much for the chance to enter! The book looks beautiful!
