From Pinterest to Real Life: May 2012

It”s that time again… the last Friday of the month means our linky where you can showcase some of the fun things that you”ve taken from your pinboards to reality!

I thought this would be a month where I got crafty with my pins, but alas, as the pretty graphic above reminded me, we all go through seasons of life. The season I”m in now seems to allow me more kitchen time than anything else when it comes with actually using my pins. There”s always next month!!

Honey-Sweetened Berry Lemonade

Inspired by two pins.

In a large bowl, mix together:

  • 2 quarts filtered water
  • 1 cup-1 1/4 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice, and
  • 1/2 cup raw honey.

Whisk until honey dissolves. Pour into pitcher(s) and chill.

Measure out 1 cup of frozen berries (I have an organic blend from Costco- strawberries, blueberries, tart cherries and raspberries), and let thaw for about 3o minutes. (I also rinsed mine in a colander first to start the thawing process.)

In a small bowl (or glass measuring cup), mash with a potato masher a bit.  Scoop (get all that juice, too!) into pitchers of lemonade.

Drink immediately or allow to chill for flavors to meld more. After lemonade is enjoyed (don”t worry, it won”t last long), try putting those lemonade-y berries on top of homemade vanilla bean ice cream. So amazing.

Remind yourself how beneficial both lemon and raw honey are for your health! Score!

More pins I put into action (i.e. into my belly) this month:

  1. Darn, I can’t seem to find a way to link up (maybe my browser or computer?) but I’ve so far done two Pinterest activities! One involves placing pipe cleaners from one hold of a colander to another (so simple but amazing to a two year old!). The other is printing out a number on a sheet of paper, let’s say ‘4,’ and inside the number there are 4 circles. I put double-sided tape on each circle, and my little guy put four puffs or cotton balls in each circle.

    • The post accidentally went up a day before the linky was live– oops! It’s there now if you want to link up.
Both activities you did sound cute!

  2. Ooh I’m liking that lemonade very much.

  3. Kellie M says:

Wanted to let all of your So Cal followers know about a promotion going on right now to provide homeowners with a chance to get new, water saving sprinkler nozzles for their home’s irrigation systmes for free at Quantities are limited for each water district, so act quickly!

  4. I want to try that lemonade today! 🙂

  5. That lemonade looks ridiculously amazing.

  6. I am so making that lemonade this weekend…sounds delicious!

  7. Yum! I made this last night and it was delish!! It needed a tad more honey for my taste, but even still, it was so good.
