Do you have a Life List?

This giveaway is now closed. Check back soon for the results!

I‘m not huge on bucket lists. Not because I don’t think they’re motivating and useful—they are—but I don’t like the stigma associated with the idea that your life is less than until you do those things. Not true at all.

But I have wanted to write an actual bucket list for a long time now. Ideas have rattled around in my head for ages, but I admittedly have never written anything down. And actually, I prefer the term Life List. Seems less morbid.

Until now. I’ve finally written the first draft of my list.

These are things that I’d love a chance to do. They’re not going to make my life complete—the more I travel, the more the bug bites, I’ve found—but by golly, our time on earth is short, and I like the idea of making the most of those days.

Do you have a bucket list of sorts?
I’d love to hear one of the items on your list, because I’ve got a great opportunity to give you. Read on.

  1. Just “liked” you on facebook.

  2. Climb Mt. Rainier. Oh that would be amazing!

  3. Take my husband and kids cross-country. I did it with my parents when I was younger, and it was amazing! I want to show them the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Yosemite, and so many other beautiful places. To do this together, as a family, would be such a blessing!

  4. brooke wagen says:

i would like to spend an entire summer in the mountains with my family, husband included, completely off the ‘grid’ life-wise, so to speak. a more far-fetched hope would be a year sailing the caribbean as a family, me with a shaved head, and all three of my kids able to be there (and swim). homeschooling would definitely include lots of astronomy.

  5. I already like Just Ask on facebook!

  6. To take some pottery classes and then buy my own kiln.

  7. – Visiting Prince Edward Island
    – Visiting all of Laura Ingalls Wilders’ homes
    – Visiting Egypt and Israel

  11. The biggest item on my list is to visit all 7 continents. I have visited 4 but 2 of the 3 remaining are a bit more challenging 🙂

  12. I have a blog that I talk about my 101 list. Which is a list of items I wish to cross off in 1001 days. I have a bucket list in my mind and one of the big items on my bucket list is to go sky diving. The big obstacle in this item is the costs involved!

  13. I want to go to Hawaii. I LOVE the beach. I love warm weather. Hawaii would be good for me. Those plane tickets are pretty expensive, though!

  14. I have liked Just Ask! on Facebook too!

  15. I like Just ask on FB 🙂

  17. Teresa S. says:

So great! One of my items is to write a book. It doesn’t have to get published, but the process of recording truth and life for my son is what I am after.

  18. I’ve also already been a fan and liked Just Ask for some time now!

  19. Perfect timing… I was just thinking about everything I want to do with my life.

  21. Emily Ross says:

-go on a mission trip to Mendoza, Argentina to help special needs children (I am actually trying to raise money for this one right now. The trip is in June. We are hoping that my husband, my 7-year-old daughter and myself can go! Eventually I want to take all 3 of my kids on foreign mission trips)
-backpack a portion of the Appalachian Trail with my hubby
-launch a website devoted to camping and hiking that encourages people to get out and enjoy The Great Outdoors while being eco-conscious and making healthy food choices while enjoying life’s journey(working on this one right now, too!)

  36. Yes! I have a life list (link to mine above). I’ve had a great time crossing some things off lately and adding more!! My plan is that it will never be complete, but it will keep growing and changing as I do. Here’s something on my list that I just added:

    Learn to play steel drums

    Doesn’t that sound fun? 🙂

  37. Visit all 50 states

  38. “Liked” Just Ask on Facebook, too!

  39. At the top of my “life list” is starting a family! This is in the works right now and starting a family does come with expenses. I love your life list, especially seeing the northern lights. I hope that I can win this so my life list is a little more fulfilled. 🙂

  41. before my husband and i had kids, we took a 40 day roadtrip around the western half of the US. camping, couchsurfing, staying with friends and family – it was great. i would love to re-create that trip with our kids and take them to all the places we went.

  42. i like you on facebook too!

I just HAVE to do it.

  54. also just liked Just Ask on FB

  55. I would love to go to Russia! Tsh if you ever want to see the northern lights you can camp out in my living room. Occasionally we can see them from our front door!

  56. I was just thinking about this last night. I’m in school working on one of my list items- finish my bachelor’s degree- but a fun goal that I have is to learn how to play the guitar, and also to become a better piano player. I want to be able to bust out the guitar at campfires and strum along to my kids singing, I want to be the mom/grandma who pounds out Happy Birthday year round and a nice selection of Christmas carols after the presents are opened. $500 could get me the guitar lessons I need and the piano sheet music to get going on my goal, with a little left to go towards my educational goals.

  57. Claudia C. says:

    Act in a play!

  58. For one year, I would love to change locations with each change of the season. By the end of the year, I will have spent four months in each of my favorite cities.

Run a half marathon next year.

  65. My “life list” dream is to take a life changing family vacation. Maybe visit one of our compassion children? Something that will open our eyes and remind us why we give in a more real way than any photo could do.

  66. I also like “just ask” on FB

  67. Liked just ask!

  68. I want to go the the New Orleans Jazz Festival. The people, the music, the food, the culture <3

  69. Because I’m starving right now, one of my Life List items is to eat at Chez Panisse in Berkeley.

  72. liked Just Ask 🙂

  73. I have always wanted to go skydiving or visit Africa

  74. I just started one this week – and it only has one thing on it so far. I’d love to walk the Camino de Santiago.

  75. I have been wanting for awhile now to get a sewing machine and take some of those classes at JoAnn’s….I would love to be able to make so much of the fun kids stuff I see on Pinterest!

  76. One of mine is to take the family to Florida to go swimming with the dolphins.

  77. Take a second honeymoon, this time to Ireland, where my husband and I had hoped to go 13 years ago for the first one, but didn’t end up getting there.

  78. I have always wanted to see the Grand Canyon. If I win, I promise to go and give a full report!

  79. So much of my list has to do with travel–the Northern lights, Antarctica (it’s not just that I like really cold places, I promise)….but currently I’d love to go spend some time on a beach in Maine.

  80. Great list!
    I love Dr. Stringz…

  81. I’ve always wanted to see the Northern Lights. And I think I’m the only person in the world who doesn’t find Paris interesting. Sorry, France!

  82. I haven’t created one yet but I know on that is taking my children across Canada in a RV. Visit every province and learn about this amazing country we live in. (I may have to steal that take a photo for every day of the year, I like that.)

  83. Take a vacation with my Mom and sister – no men!

  84. I want to ride in a hot air balloon

  85. I liked “Just Ask” on FB

I speak 3 languages and have never been to any of the countries where those languages are spoken. C’est la vie. Someday. Someday.

    -go back to school
    -have a second honeymoon
    -learn to take great photos

  88. I’ve never actually written the list down, which I guess I should. One thing hubby and I definitely want to do is to see the Northern Lights. And I would love to visit Banff National Park and I believe I can see the Northern Lights from there!

  89. 1. I want to be ‘homeless’ and travel with my familly (hubby and 2 kids) for at least a year.
    2. I want to hike the appalachian trail with my family.

  90. I used to be a dreamer, planner, list-maker. Now I’m so deep in daily life with 4 young kids whom I’m homeschooling that I am only getting *today’s* tasks done. I want to reclaim that dreamer-planner-list-maker part of myself. Maybe a life list is just what I need to make today. 🙂

My parents took my sisters and me on a driving tour of the U.S. when I was 17. It was such an incredible experience. I cannot wait to take my own children when they are a little older. I’d love to make it to all 50 states with them. We might do it in chunks, though.

  91. I liked Just Ask on FB.

  92. I “like” Just Ask!

  93. I want to visit Scotland some day. Thanks for a chance to win!

  94. Most of mine involve travel. At the top is a trip to India with my daughter.

  95. I would like to run a half and a full marathon.

  96. I want to take my girls to their name-sake cities (Sydney & Adelaide)

  97. My life list, bucket list – hmm. I want to see the Milky Way without light pollution, just pure and clear from out west probably out in the desert somewhere just once. Or the northern lights! Those two things have been on my list for years. Now that I am getting older and my kids are more able to have their own adventures, I find myself trying to find ways to make their lists come true. If I don’t have time to spend a month in France at this stage in life and finances (I did get to do this a few times :-), I want my daughter to get to. She will just have to e-mail me and take lots of pictures.

  98. It’s so hard to pick one! I would have to say travel around Europe with my family when the kids get a bit older.

  99. I wrote myself a 111 in 2011 list that I’ve been working through all year. 111 things, big and small, that I’ve been checking off my personal to-do list. One item still waiting to be checked off is to run a half marathon.

  100. Wow, I have so many it is difficult to pick one. I’d like to surprise my family in AZ some Christmas by just showing up. 🙂
