The final giveaway we have on Simple Mom is Plan to Eat, a genius little online program that pretty much does everything for you but actually cook your meals. And before too long, they’ll probably figure out a way to do that, too.

Plan to Eat is a simple tool that allows you to store your favorite recipes (and import them from around the Internet!), create menu plans using those recipes, and even provide grocery lists based on those same recipes.

You can share recipes with others on Plan to Eat, you can organize your grocery lists by store, and you can tag your recipes in infinite ways. You can even track nutritional information and cost breakdown of all of your recipes and menus! And for those of you that love going paperless, you can use Plan to Eat’s mobile app to carry all your menu planning with you. No more accidentally leaving the house without your grocery list.

My favorite feature? How astonishingly simple it is. Its clean interface allows for intuitive interaction — it took me mere seconds to get my account up and running, and I had my weekly menu plan created in minutes.

    We usually go to “breakfast any time” when we are really desperate! Pancakes, waffles, german pancakes are all easy and fun to whip up when supper is last-minute. It also turns what could be a dismal meal into a funny mixed-up end to the day! We add fruit & yogurt for fiber & protein.

  7. My favorite Cheater Meal is a simple tomato-based chicken curry since we always have the ingredients lurking in our kitchen – chicken, tomatoes, onions and the spices. If I can scrounge up a potato, then we are golden.

  13. My quick go to meal is spaghetti w/ bolognese. I make the sauce as the water boils and pasta cooks. It is so fast and simple and super delish!

  18. My go-to is a simple pantry/freezer meal: box of tortellini, some frozen peas thrown in at end of boil, can of diced tomatoes and a few dollops of pesto. Stir and yum….

  19. OK, I make whole wheat organic cheese quesadillas (melted in oven to be even easier), cook some frozen peas, and slice up whatever fruit we have handy. Walla! Sometimes we eat this twice a week. I just tell myself its better than the fast food drive in!

  21. My favorite go to meal is pasta and my spaghetti meat sauce. When I cook the sauce, I usually make more than what I need and freeze the rest. When I am in a rush, I defrost my frozen sauce and boil up some pasta. Dinner is on the table in no time.

  27. Pizza…I have learned how to make the crust from scratch in 10 minutes so it takes 15 minutes of hands-on time and 15 to bake. SO GOOD!

  31. My quick answer to dinner at 5PM is grilled cheese or breakfast for dinner. Both are always a hit and cheaper and better for us than ordering pizza!

    Right now my go-to meal for my family of 7 would be McDonalds to the tune of $30! With this program? I’d already have something planned and started! Please pick my number!!!!

  35. That looks like a great tool! My go-to if I need dinner fast is often cous cous with some sauteed veggies on top and a drizzle of olive oil. I always have homemade pizza dough in the freezer and can throw a yummy pizza together fairly quickly using whatever veggies are in the fridge.

  38. At 5 pm, in a pinch for dinner, I go straight to the frozen salmon by Pier 33. I have been stocking up while it is on sale at our local supermarket. On sale it costs $1.25 per serving. Three servings thawed out in cool water for 15 minutes while the rice starts. Add broccoli or salad and you have a nutritious, quick meal. We eat salmon about 3 times a week int he spring !!!!!

    Usually my favorite go to meal is spaghetti. I keep meatballs or shrimp in the freezer. Although, my favorite go to meal for the summer is pasta salad. Pasta is quick and easy to cook. My three kids love it and they love to help add the veggies and cheeses and dressing. We make homemade dressings so the kids can get involved too and keep them in the fridge. Quick, easy, healthy and gets my kids to actually eat veggies.

    chili quesadillas are a great go-to meal around here are are ready in about 10 minutes.

  50. A busy day of running errands? How about an exhausting day of work, then running errands after work and being ready to totally collapse when you finally walk in the door but still have to cook dinner? I boil some pasta, heat up Trader Joe’s meatballs, and some sauce, and be done with it.

  53. Black Bean Quesadillas

    grill tortillas- add black beans & mixture of jack, cheddar & feta cheese, top with scallions & tomatoes & fresh salsa!

  54. It’s 5 o’clock and dinner hasn’t even been thought about all day – but, one of our favorite and QUICK meals around here is a lime and honey glazed fish! It takes a few minutes to thaw any type of fish we have in the freezer and about 6 minutes to cook in the fish in this yummy lime and honey glaze! I also add little red potato chunks that cooked in the microwave while the fish was being prepared. Simple, but delicious!


  55. Bean burritos! I always keep a big jar of cooked pinto beans in the fridge and it takes about 10 minutes to heat them up, zap them in my magic bullet with some butter, salt and pepper, heat the corn tortillas with a bit of butter and mozzarella and serve! I serve them up with whatever fresh veggies or fruit I happen to have on hand.

Sauté mushrooms, open a jar of Whole Foods Organic Classic Marinara and warm, wilt a pack of fresh organic baby spinach, start grilling slices of rganic polenta from a tube in a bit of organic olive oil. Place the polenta on plates along side spinach, top with sauce and mushrooms. It’s literally done in minutes and everyone wants second!

  82. If I’ve picked up a roasted chicken while I am out we do a build your own chicken burrito bar, chicken cheese beans, slasa and of course tortillas…

    if not everyone always seems to think that breakfast for dinner is a special treat. eggs pancakes and oj for dinner. doesn’t get easier! 🙂

  84. I love chicken surprise. Chicken, veggies, sour cream, cream of mushroom soup topped with cheese and baked. The surprise is what kind of veggies I use!

  85. Frozen chinese food from Grocery Outlet that is all natural.. :o) And takes 10 minutes to make..

    On days that I forget to thaw the meat or neglected to meal plan at all, I stop by the supermarket and pick up a rotisserie chicken. We then either have a salad with chicken on top or make quesadilla’s, taco’s or panini’s.

    My quickest meal is probably cheese crisps/burritos. I just get out the tortillas, cheese, beans, salsa, and sour cream, and everyone gets to put them together however they want.

  97. My favorite go-to meal during the summer is to do grilled chicken breasts with salad fixins. My kids usually have carrots and snap peas, and my husband and I have a pretty robust (and filling) meal.
